Anticipating Spring

Since we don't have gardens planted yet on the farm I thought I'd post a few pictures of our garden in the city. There was nothing but dirt and concrete when we started. These photos were taken at different times about 2 yrs after planting. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

These roses are all David Austin English Roses

Some are shrub and some are climbing roses

They were all scented

Loved this oriental poppy

Hi! I am catching up with you today. I've been away from the computer because my dad had surgery. I love your flowers and the pictures are pretty. The oriental poppy was spectacular and iris is my favorite flower. You all are so good at renovation and decorating. Hard working too! I hope you have a lovely weekend! Twyla

Wow...Thank you girls for the compliments on the gardens! One day I'll show you what they looked like a few years later and our back garden. I miss all the flowers but hopefully one day we'll have some pretty gardens here on the farm...if I can keep the dogs and rabbits out of them that is.

Janean I agree about the English Roses...they really are beautiful...such old fashioned huge blooms. One day I'll have some again. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Twyla I hope your Dad is ok and that the surgery wasn't for anything too serious. Those Irises were given to me by our neighbour (Canadian spelling) in the city...she told me they were all white. The first year they were all pretty well white but the second year...there were at least 3 different colours...and they were the only irises I planted in that fenced garden! I'd love to have that poppy again but I can't remember the name of it..too bad. I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend.

Kathy I had always wanted an arbor and my hubby did such a great job. It wasn't easy making the arches for that and the front porch but he plugged away at them and I painted them (took forever). I loved it. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too.

Cynthia Holy Cow...an award?! Never had an award before other than 'most improved rider' when I had my horse but this is even better. Wow. Ok I'll wait for it...and thank you in advance just for thinking I was even worth it! How cool is that. Have a great weekend too! HUGS..Maura

Thank you Catherine...wish I had that garden here on the farm. I do have plans for future gardens though but I'm sure it will be a while before we get to that. One thing it will have for sure...is another arbor with gate! Have a wonderful weekend....hugs back to you...Maura
