I love the skirt and the beam
(click the photo's to make them larger)
It's raining...again. So I'm stuck inside sipping my coffee looking around my kitchen.
That usually get's me thinking about our future kitchen renovation.
I'm not really looking forward to it but once Mr Fixit and I start
talking about it and looking at pictures then I get in the mood pretty quick.
This morning I thought I'd see if I could find a few pictures on the internet
to inspire me.
I've done this before in a previous post.
Funny how my mood changes when it rains. This morning the rain got me thinking of my sister in England and then I started thinking of English kitchens.
English kitchens always seem cozy to me. Maybe because they're usually so small
but more so I think it's because they have character.
What do you think?
Here's a few pictures of English kitchens.
There's those skirts again...that's different
Love this hutch...need one of these ;-)
There's the beams again and love the plate rack
I miss my farmhouse sink
Love the sloping ceiling and the cottge window
Don't like the cupboards but love the windows, floors and low ceiling
Such a cozy space with those low ceilings
Love this one! I was thinking of doing this to the floor and for sure beadboard to the ceiling.
Oooo look at that stove! Love the low ceilings with the beams.
Love the stone walls and the window with shutters.
I hope you liked these English kitchen pictures. Our kitchen certainly isn't English but it would be nice to add some of the elements from these photo's.
The bead board ceilings and the painted wood floors and painted cupboards are certainly things we could do here at the farm.
Maybe when my sister comes to visit she'll feel right at home!
Do you have kitchen dreams too?
What's your favorite style?

What beautiful inspiration photos. I would love to be able to incorporate some of these ideas. Can't wait to see what you do.
I do the same on rainy days...stand in my kitchen with tea in hand while the bread rises and dream!
I am partial to that first picture with the frilly skirt. With having four sons I don't get a lot to chanced to do frilly in my house. They would destroy frilly!
Great post, Kim
Those kitchens are wonderful, Maura. They would all work in our large, with too much wasted space, kitchen, in our 1925 bungalow/farmhouse.
Rainy day dreaming, indeed.
Have a great week, my friend!♥
Loved looking at those kitchens!
So cute..I've always loved the plate racks too.
I love the last one best..it looks like a french kitchen....I think the kitchen might be one of the favourite rooms in my house and my bedroom (its a toss-up lol )
And I love the apron sink..so beautiful!!
Happy day, my sweet friend...

Yes, you definitely need that hutch, no matter what kind of kitchen you choose!
One of my favorite English kitchens is from the movie The Holiday with Kate Winslett. Loved that English cottage. And speaking of swinging beds, we have two on our sleeping porch that my husband built. We got the idea from the picture you just posted from Coastal Living. I think I posted a picture of one of them on my blog under the Lake Lure Cottage catagory. I'm enjoying your blog.
Those are all wonderful inspiration photos. I like the skirt too. Also the checkerboard floor. I have black and white checkerboard in my kitchen and I never tire of it!
