Narrowing Down the Choices

Isn't this a beautiful little yellow cottage!

THANK YOU to everyone who put their suggestions in for colors to paint our cottage!!! Oh how I have appreciated your input. I'm surprised at how many of you thought a yellow would be nice...I thought I was going to be pretty much alone on that one although Mr Fixit seemed to like the idea too. I thought that I was done looking but then I came across two other houses with great colors that I couldn't pass up...so now I've narrowed it down to 3 choices. I'm sure the shade won't be exactly as you see in these pictures but it will be close. Wish our little cottage had the character of these sweet homes!

I'm REALLY liking this color with the white or cream trim

I like this taupe or tan color..don't think I'd add the gold though but I LOVE how it looks on this house.

So...I think I've narrowed it down to three colors that would work and that Mr Fixit would like too.
Now I just need to find colors that would match my final choice!

What do you think?

My appologies for not mentioning where I got these photo's. I was so excited to find houses with the same color roof as ours and paint colors that I liked that I forgot to write it down..sorry.

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday...take care...
Maura :-)

Good Morning Maura! I'm starting my day with you and your lovely blog.

I've ALWAYS wanted a yellow house so I would vote for that. But I also like the second photo. Yellow is so cheerful and welcoming so that would be my first choice.

Hello Joycee...thank you for visiting today! You're right...it's a tough decision so I'm not in a big rush plus it's been raining and storming here off and on for the past couple of weeks. I better not go to all the trouble of painting our little cottage and then a dang tornado comes along and blows it away! Wouldn't that just make your day. Thanks again for stopping by...I hope you'll come back to the farm again soon. Take care...

Hello Pondside! I love that green too...and that particular house! All 3 houses are cute don't you think? I agree ..this green would look good no matter what season it was. It's going to be a tough choice that's for sure. Have a wonderful day!

Hi MY Maura, When thinking of your house, I think the green would be “cooler” feeling in those hot summers that you get. Yellow could be to bright ....Our house is Yellowish, golden really and it can feel harsh in the hot sun...I love that sage green color and I think it would blend in with the landscape and the woodsy feel...anything would look good on your pretty farm... Your talk of tornados. When we bought our hours, our first house mind you after renting for 18 years together, we had an earthquake the first day...OMG I thought...there all that hard work of saving goes...but of course, all is ok...We stand strong!

Hello MY Cynthia! LOL...the green is pretty isn't it, even Mr Fixit likes it and he doesn't normally like green. Hmmm...never thought about yellow feeling hot but if I was to go for a yellow with a more orange undertone I could see that could be a problem. Thanks for the 'heads-up'! Heaven knows it gets super hot here in the summer. Oh my...I can just imagine how scared you were of loosing your home and all that investment to an earthquake...I would have been a a mess after that. I'm glad you're standing strong...us too...so far so good for both of us! I hope you're having a wonderful day my friend....HUGS :)

Hi Maura
The green is really nice, a color I hadn't thought would look good..is.
But I'm still in love with the yellow. I wish we'd painted ours a yellow, instead of a boring beigey-cream. Oh well, it's starting to peel off so I guess I may get my yellow house, one of these years. Oops,I'm rambling.

Hello Catherine! It's going to be a tough decision in the end that's for sure. I'm leaning towards the green house and the yellow over the bottom home. I just saw a house in the little town not too far from us that just got painted and it looks WONDERFUL! I think it may be too dark but I'm going to consider it too. THANK YOU for posting about memorial for the Canadian soldiers. My father would have loved that. I'll show your blog to my step mom up in Canada...she'll like your photo's. Have a wonderful Wednesday...Maura:)

Hi Laura...I hope you get to paint your house yellow this year! It's still a toss up for the green or yellow....but this other cottage I just saw is REALLY nice too. I'm getting a headache trying to make a decision! I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday....Maura:)

I just came across your wonderful blog! I live in a craftsman home and the body color is much like the second home, green. But I use an reddish purple almost a maroon for the trim. I have so many people stop by and tell me how much they love the color of my home!

I think I just deleted my own comment! So let me try again...

I looked at your cottage and I think definitely YELLOW! Green would be too much like the blue you already have and won't feel like you've made a big change. Just be sure to get the correct yellow so it isn't too bright. Can't wait to see the after pics. Bet it will be beautiful!

Hi Maura, I love the soft pale yellow in the first photo. Our house is yellow, but we find it very harsh, it's almost a gold colour. We've been contemplating a change too, and considered a green, fairly similar to the one above but have decided on a red with white trim. Of course, when we'll ever get started on the job is anyone's guess!
