May On The Farm

This is our first time experiencing the month of May on the farm. It's been a very busy time clearing over grown tree's and cleaning up piles of old wood and junk from years of neglect and JUNK collecting. I don't mean the kind of 'junk' that most of us like to find either! We haven't even touched the inside of the barn yet but I'm sure that won't get done until winter just to make sure there are no wasps nests or snakes in there (farmboy is afraid of snakes).

There's been lots more to mow now which keeps me busy and out of trouble...so farmboy says.

The people who own the farmland around us brought in more cows and took some away so there's been lots of desparate mooing going on...probably momma's calling for babies. It's sad listening to thier desparate calls but thank goodness it only lasts a couple of days and then it's quiet again.

Peaches

Apples

Cherries

The fruit trees are starting to produce fruit. Hopefully I'll get enough to make jam and can a few quarts of fruit.
There are two blackberry bushes and this year I planted 75 strawberry plants although
we did loose a few plants. We're looking forward to eating lots of strawberry shortcake!

This is our corn crib...it's old.
At one time they had it covered with tar paper but I'm trying to pull it all off so I can paint it the original color of barn red with white trim. Eventually I hope to do that to the barn and chicken coop too.
One day.

This is the door to the chicken coop/garden shed
I love these old buildings.

Buttercup and Henrietta are in the coop laying eggs.

Foreground to background....Chelsea, Bubba and Shep
heading home for a treat.

I hope you've enjoyed a little walk around the farm.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I could feel the sunshine on the top of my head as I followed you around your piece of paradise. Those old buildings are special - I especially love that rustic Dutch door.

Things are looking so beautiful on the farm. It's easy to tell you've spent a lot of time caring for the farm. The goslings are getting huge! We just had seven hatch last weekend.

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the shots of the old out buildings. My family laughs at me because I'm so drawn to weathered old buildings like that.
What you are doing with your cottage in the country is the desire of my heart. I hope some day to be doing it too! In the meantime, I will enjoy reading here so I'm definitely putting this on my reading list.

Hello Debbie, nice to 'meet' you! Isn't it funny how others just don't 'get it'..when it comes to our love of ...old things especially buildings. I really can't explain why we love them but we do. Never give up on your hearts desire...I hope it won't be long until you're living in the country with a big old barn. Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again. Take care.... Maura:)
