Looking Back at 2011

January saw snow here in Kansas

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's hard to believe that we're
already into the new year...
is it just me or did you find the
old year flew by?

As I look back on
2011
I realize that it was a busy year
 at
Lilac Lane Cottage
here at
Kisiwa Creek Ranch

January saw lots of snow and
February I had my
One Year Give-Away!

Most of the month of March
was a mess with renovations
being made to the bathroom.
What a job
but it was worth it!

April saw the return of the Lilacs.
Unfortunately it wasn't a good year for them
but we did get enough blossoms to
enjoy that wonderful heady
perfume.

The Monarchs loved them too :)

May into June we spent our days
priming and painting the house.

Going from medium blue to
pale yellow was a pain!

June was the month of kittens!
We found these two out in one of
our buildings but then their
feral momma carried them
out to our burn pile
and that's where I found them.
Dora the black one found a wonderful home
and Henry is 'fixed' and living with us.

It was a terribly hot summer but we managed
to have a little tea party in the garden with
my new tea cozy I had won :)

The end of August was the time
for the annual
Heritage Days in Yoder Kansas
where the Amish mix with the
locals and have fun competing in all kinds
horse events.

September took me to Ozark Missouri
with my sister in law Donna
where we had a wonderful time
antique shopping
:)

October was the month of the dust storm
here at the ranch.
This was a summer of drought for sure.

November
My younger (by 3 months!) Sister
came to visit from Canada!
She got to experience
2 earthquakes while she was here.

December
was a wonderful month
of good food good company
and ended with a
couple of surprises.

Which I'll share with you soon ;)

I wish you and yours all the best for a

HAPPY
HEALTHY
2012

Hi Maura, I haven't been able to leave a comment the last time I came to visit. I like your new blog look and enjoyed your look back of 2011. It seemed as though it just started yesterday. Do you think this year will go that fast? Hasn't the weather been different this winter? I remember all of the snow last year and the year before and so far we have had little. Goes from 63 one day to 40's the next. Have a great week. Happy New Year from Your Missouri Friend.

Yes, the year seems to have flew by, but since it was a mixed-bag of a year for me, I was glad to see the back of it :)
Love seeing your pictures, it's always a pleasure visiting you here at the farm !
A Happy and Healthy New Year, to you my sweet friend...

Maura,
I enjoyed looking back with you especially since I hadn't seen your first few months of 2011 with my "blog beginning" being May.

One of my first connections with you was over an ice cream maker. I ran across the photo the other day of your ICM. I still haven't found one but now the reminder is here so once again I will go on a search.

Your bath room rennovation looks charming . . .

Happy Twenty Twelve . . .

Hi Miss Maura,

Happy New Year. Did you even think of doing a calendar? It would be wonderful cause you are so "beary" creative, and we would buy one.

Happy New Year dear Maura.

Love your bathroom.

Mine was 'done' till a kitchen renovation moved most of the antique blue/white china into my clawfoot tub.

Don't ask !!!!

It seems the feral garden cat I had fixed is PREGNANT. Ugh.

Happy new year! I enjoyed your snowy January photo with the beautiful cardinals. I kinda wish it would snow here. We have just been getting cold winds and murky skies. I bought a new winter coat in Amsterdam but it is too warm to wear when the weather is above freezing!

Except for the terrible heat of the summer, life at Lilac lLane Cottage in 2011 seemed pretty good.
