Treasures

I thought I'd share with you all a couple of my antique jewelry treasures. I only have a few...some I left with my daughters when I moved to Kansas. One piece that I kept has been in my family for at least 70 years. It belonged to a family member on my Mom's side of the family which lives in England.
(You can click on the pictures to enlarge them)

It's not in good condition but it has sentimental value and the fact that it is in this condition shows me that it was well loved for years. I even wore it as a young adult until a piece of the leather came undone.

It's very fragile. Inside the glass 'dome' is part of a butterfly wing. The whole background is wing and they must have cut it to fit the silver piece on the bottom.

I love how delicate it is.

The bottom picture is the back

The two lockets are also antiques...I bought them from a fellow in Quebec and they came from an estate sale in Montreal.

One is much older than the other and on a long chain, the newer heart locket is from 50's.

This is the back of the locket (sorry about the stain I never noticed before!)

The next piece I bought at a garage sale. I'm not sure if it's antique but it does look old and it is made of ivory. It is also hand painted and has sterling silver chain and clasp.
I don't wear it often... it's like a little piece of delicate artwork.
Excuse the tarnish!

Do you have any family items or treasures you've found that have special meaning to you?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I adore the piece with the butterfly wing! How unique. I have a simple gold cross that belonged to my maternal grandmother and an onyx and silver ring that belonged to my paternal great-grandmother. I treasure them so very much. Over the years, my husband has given me a few pieces (pearls, diamond earrings, as amazing silver bracelet and earring set) in hopes that someday they'll be treasured by my daughter and future generations.
