Welcome Guests!

It's that time of year when many of us
look forward to traveling and
visiting friends and
relatives.

Or
we look
forward to receiving
friends and relatives that we
haven't seen for a while.

Our guest room is ready :)

It's a cute room with lots of light
on the south west corner of the cottage.

The lamp on the left was my gr-grandmothers

This room is right off the living room
and right next to ours through
that door on the left.

I know...but it locks!

What's neat about our little
cottage is that every
bedroom (3) has two doors.
This is wonderful for air circulation
both in the summer and winter
and every room except the
laundry room/back porch
has a ceiling fan.

You need that here in Kansas
as it gets VERY hot.

When triple digit temperatures
are here...like now...
you really appreciate that air movement.

Yes we do have central air conditioning :)

This pretty rose sign
hung above our
front porch
in the city.

Never thought I'd see the
day that sign would come down
and end up in a farm cottage in the
country.

So glad it did!

Love the details on this
vintage lamp
I bought in the small town
near us.

This room looks out to the lilac
grove that runs along
the lane
to the cottage.

It also looks out onto the
Annabelle Hydrangea's
that grow along the front of the cottage.

I found this chair years ago at a garage sale
in the city. I meant to re-paint it
but I just can't bring myself to do it.
Maybe one day.

Above is a little hand made
Amish girls dress pinafore apron and cap
that I bought near the
Amish community not
far from us.

Even the hanger is hand made.

This is the Edwardian wedding sheet
I bought at the big
Flea Market
not far from us this spring.

If we have company I will remove
this sheet which I just put
on top of a regular ruffled
sheet.

The pillow is a garage sale find.

Have you got your guest room ready?

I hope you have a WONDERFUL week!

Maura :)

Hi Maura,

So beautiful, warm & inviting. And of course I did see those three teddy bears. (o:

Hugs

Our guests have been and it was so much fun preparing for them. I tend to "spoil" them.

Your guest room is just beautiful. I love how the bed is nestled in the corner between the lace covered windows. Your guests will feel most welcome in that room. The wedding sheet is gorgeous.

You have such a pretty guest room. It looks so inviting and comfy. I'll have to say that my guest room isn't ready and this is one summer that I really don't want much company because of all the unfinished projects going on! Next year!

What a beautiful guest room! Every detail is just perfect.

The rattan chair brings back memories - my grandfather made rattan furniture & I remember all the holidays at Grandma Dickie's house, sitting at the rattan dining room table, on the matching chairs. Or looking at the Christmas scene she set up on the also matching side board every year. (I will say that most of my female relatives did NOT like those chairs - they put holes in their stockings! LOL)

Hi Maura
Your guest room is very welcoming. I just love the lace wedding sheet you found, it looks nice with the rest of the decor.
Unfortunately, what would have been our guest room is my office.
