Strawberry Season

Oh Goodness...
is there anything
better than a ripe strawberry
picked fresh from the garden?!

It's
Strawberry
Season
here on the farm.

Vintage Ironstone Bowl

Last year I planted nearly
75
strawberry plants.
They multiplied.
I have no idea how many plants
I have now but
it's a sure thing that we'll
be eating lots of
Strawberry Shortcake
and other
strawberry goodies
this season.

The freezer will be stocked
and there will be more
jam in the pantry!

While I picked...
my helpers were waiting
outside the garden fence.

Lizzy

Chelsea

Shep

This was one days picking.

The strawberries in the vintage ironstone bowl
in the top photos...
were picked the day after these.

And the season is JUST beginning!

I think I need to find more
strawberry recipes
SO
if you have any favorites
please let me know...
I'd love to try them!

I never picked today
as it was chilly and windy
so tomorrow I will be back at it.

And hopefully I'll be back
at painting the house too!

I'm linking up with
Amy
over at
VERDE FARM
for

and
BRAMBLEBERRY COTTAGE
for

Deborah Jean
for
http://www.deborahjeansdandelionhouse.com/>Farm Girl Friday

So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of
wine and pop on over and say
HI
to the girls and enjoy
the other bloggers
taking part.

I hope you have a WONDERFUL day!

Oh my, I agree. There is NOTHING like fresh strawberries! I've been making strawberry jam for years now and I think I eat my weight in berries while I'm in my jam making mode!

With our wet, cool spring I'm not sure how the strawberry crops are doing here in our little corner of Washington. We actually dug up our own strawberries to replant this year... I'm kind of happy because we're moving the strawberry patch out of the veggie garden and getting a better variety of strawberries to plant. My husband bought the last ones and they were an everbearing variety which doesn't taste as good as some of the other local varieties... plus you don't get enough at one time to do much with. We have tons of berry farms here in Whatcom County so I'll be able to manage without my own this year.

And I have to say, if my dog was helping me with my strawberries, she'd be eating them all! Love the animal shots as always.

You forgot to mention home made strawberry ice cream. Strawberries are one of my favorites. That is a lot of berries. How long do they produce berries.

Love the photos of your darling pets. Mine do the same thing. Where ever I go they go. It makes me feel good to have such close companions.

I would say that strawberries are probably my very favorite fruit. I have them on my cereal in the morning, and in my protein shake at night.

You can certainly tell those didn't come from the grocery store. Now my mouth is watering.

I love strawberries with a big dollop of clotted cream on top.
When I was young I was allergic to fresh strawberries, happily no longer :)

It's still to early for strawberries up here, but I can't wait! We're told that the berries will be smaller than usual this year, but just as sweet. If I had all those berries today I'd be making Strawberry-Rhubarb jam.

I love strawberries, but i go and pick some at the nearest farm. i used to have a vegetable garden before, but with the goats they jumped and ate everything on their way so ty had to stop.A good weekend to you , catherine

Your berries look beautiful! I'm a few weeks away from picking yet. Gonna try a Chipotle Strawberry Jam this year, should be interesting:@)

Oh your strawberries look scrumptious!
My mom makes a wonderful strawberry cake...
One vanilla cake mis
strawberries
lg cool whip
Bake cake in 8 or 9 inch round pans.
when cooled slice each one in half across the middle so you have 4 round pieces.
Place one on a plate and spread cool whip and strawberries on top. Layer the remaining cake pieces with the cool whip and berry mixture in between, leaving enough to " frost " the cake too. Decorate with a few berries!
Add tooth picks to hold it together. Cool in refrigerator for two hours before serving...
Now you have one delicious strawberry short cake! It's light and oh so sweet.
Enjoy!

Those Strawberries look amazing! I was planning on buying 100 plants this year but I missed out on the sale so I might wait for next year. I do have one little plant in a hanging basket, so we'll see what happens with that.

Enjoy your berries!

Your photos are great. The little furbabies are so cute. I love strawberries and we hoped to get some planted this season, but couldn't decide where to put them. It's probably getting a little late to find the plants now and it's rained so much that we'd have to mud them in. Maybe next year. Have a wonderful weekend.

I'm not the first to say it, but YUM! Strawberry shortcake is the best!

Oh my, those strawberries look good! When the kids were little, I set out 200 plants, and in year 3 I had 20 flats of strawberries! Freezer jam was the only thing I made, besides shortcake and pie.
