The Shade Garden Is Coming Along

I would just like to say HELLO to
all our new followers...
it's so nice to have
you come to visit
us here in the country!

Our shade garden is coming
along nicely.
We bought a few more
plants and hubby worked
on the trellis
so now I just need to find
some climbing hydrangea for that.

Tara Dillard if you're reading this
my plan is to put mulch down for now
but as time goes by ...replace it
with a ground cover.
;)

One of the new hosta's in the
photo above.

I've planted a few hardy ferns.
This is one of the smaller type but
I planted 2 that will be quite
large in time.
Ferns remind me of
when I lived in
British Columbia.

I still have to plant the front
and back carriers
on my old bike.

Here are a few of the hosta's
that I just planted today.

I love the colors in the one above!

Above is a Japanese Painted Fern.

I love the colors in this Columbine.
I plan on planting pink and yellow
David Austin Roses
and soon the
house will be a soft yellow.

The fern and these two
hosta's are new

Hubby got the wooden support
strips on the trellis for the
climbing hydrangea.

In the background I hope to plant
a couple of Rhododendrons.

Ok...I know these aren't shade
plants but I just wanted to show
you the old wheel barrow
hubby made for me years
ago.

Isn't it cute!

I love geraniums.

Well...hubby is back from getting gas
for the power saw so we're off
to get firewood from along the creek
behind our farm.

No rest for the weary!

I'm linking up with Amy
from Verde Farm for

FARM FRIEND FRIDAY

I hope you'll hop on over and
say Hi to Amy and check out her
post and visit the others who
are joining in this week.

Have a great weekend!

That's a lot of work you've put in and it's looking really good. Don't know if you kept the names of your Hosta's but believe me you'll wish you had if you didn't. You become addicted to them really quickly. Mine all have growth starting up now I believe. Nothing but rain for the next week but that sure is good for them.

I planted enough hosta's they filled in enough I don't need much mulch now! Wait till it is all done and you can sit back and enjoy the view!

This is going to be delightful Maura! I love the bicycle, but England is so damp, it would end up rusty within weeks.
I like Hostas, but we have so many snails, i dont know if its worth trying again :-(
It all looks charming and will make a beautiful frame around your pretty home.

The shade garden is beautiful. We have shade along one side of our driveway as you enter the property and I haven't yet tackled it yet, but you've given me inspiration!!
Happy Easter!!

Your shade garden looks like it is coming along nicely. What a beautiful space to put flowers. I love the ferns as well, but my dog used mine for a lovely soft bed, and I'm not sure they are going to come back.

Hi Maura,
I just had to tell you there is a town in Norway with your name on it! I have been meaning to tell you this but I have been a little behind lately on my blog visits!!
Your garden will be lovely, I adore all those big trees and with such lovely plants below, in years to come that will be a favourite place to sit on a hot summer day!!
I just bought some geraniums myself and planted them in pots around my property. Pinks and reds and whites!! I think it is safe to begin putting plants outside, hopefully frosty nights are past us now!!!
Your wheel barrel is adorable, such a clever husband you have!!!
Hope you will have a wonderful day!!
