Cats and Blossoms

Spring is finally here on the farm.
We're a little further behind than
this time last year but not by much.

The cats are enjoying the sun and the
nice warm weather.
The only  bad thing is the wind...
it's been so windy here for nearly
a week!

The fruit trees are starting to bloom.

Olly watching out for the dogs...especially
our 'horse' Shep.
He likes to play with the cats

The cats like to climb the plum trees
especially now that the bird feeder is there.

Lizzy looking to pounce on her brother.

The lilacs will be blooming soon!

Our Lilac Lane will soon be in full bloom.
I was looking at the lilac grove today
and I don't think we're going to have
as many blossoms this year.

One of the plum trees in full bloom...
the other is a little behind.

The garden shed waiting for action.

The compost pile.
It will soon be in my new flower bed
...I can't wait!

Today hubby started tilling up the
new garden in the picket fence area.
He also did a quick
'till' where we'll plant the new grass.
FINALLY we will have a
fenced in yard with more
than just dirt!

I'll be taking pictures of our progress
soon.

What projects are you taking on this spring?

I hope your week has been a good one so far.

Maura :)

Oh, I can't wait to see your lovely lane in blossom...I have a lilac bush right under my kitchen window. With our kitchen reno, I got a deeper kitchen window put in , so I will be able to see the lilacs even better this year. :)

Things are looking very springy there! The plum tree is so lovely. It's one of my favorites and we don't have one. (how did that happen?) My lilacs look like yours... hope they will bloom soon. I bet you are getting excited about getting your fingers in that dirt to plant some flowers!

Wow, Maura, you are going full tilt! Your lane is so lovely - like something from a movie about rural USA. Soon it will be lined with lilacs - bliss!

This is a great time of year isn't it? Your blossom pictures are beautiful.

Too many to count! It's more a question of which will get done and what will have to wait another year. Chickens and bees are a certainty. At least they better be!

I'm sure those lilacs of yours will still be a sight to behold!

Hi Maura~ ~It's nice to meet you you have a lovely blog. Your Olly looks so much like my Babaje. He was the greatest cat in the world in our eyes and we lost him last fall. Miss him. Glad that I stopped by.

I was just thinking this morning that our lilacs (much younger than yours) don't look like they'll have as many blooms this year, either. i wonder why that is? As for projects, we're about to put together our very first hoop house, and will be rearranging the veggie garden to make room for a smaller version for the tomatoes. I can't wait for our dreary Western WA spring weather to go away!

I adore lilacs and their heavenly scent. But I don't think my lilacs will be as full this year. The red bud trees aren't either. And projects? I have too many going on and I'm getting overwhelmed. It takes us a lot longer to get things done since we're near retirement age! Have a good day.

Maura I cannot wait to see those lilac in full bloom!!! We only have one very old bush, last year we had a late frost that killed most of our lilac "buds" as well as our cherries :( I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this year!

And the projects... too many to list but hopefully a new floor for the back porch/laundry area and a railing for the basement stairs. As well as lots and lots of painting projects.
