Spring Fluff Balls and Dust Clouds

It's that time of year again.

Time for lots of little fluff balls to
be running around the farm.

These pictures were taken last year
when we ordered 63 chicks from
a hatchery.

Most were Buff Orpingtons but we also
had 9 Black Australorp
and one freebie thrown in
by the hatchery.
HE turned out to be a silver Leghorn.

It's been a big day and everyone is a little sleepy

This year we are going to do things differently.
We have two Buff's who are 'broody'
and we are going to let them 'set'
on some eggs.

We tried this once before but it was chilly out
and Mamma hen didn't take very good
care of them so unfortunately
they didn't make it.

So when hubby get's a few minutes
from working on the bathroom renovation
we'll put these two ladies into their own
pen in the coop and see what happens.

Do you mind turning the light out!

Who'd have thought a totally black chicken
could come from this little fluff ball above.

Sleepy Time

Looking forward to seeing
cute little fluff balls under
their Mamma's wings.

We're in the middle of a bathroom
renovation. What a mess!

This is my office/craft room!

What we thought would be a fairly
quick renovation is taking a lot longer
than first thought.

If you've ever lived in an old house before
and tackled a renovation you know all about
walls that are not straight and hidden surprises.
Well...our project is no exception.

Here's a little peek at where we are now.
The bathroom sink/vanity is out...
and I'm getting a little tired of washing
and brushing my teeth in the kitchen sink!

Oh well...it will all be worth it in the end.

I hope you have a WONDERFUL week
and
HAPPY SPRING!

Maura :)

Oh, those home remodeling projects... awful while they are in progress, but so wonderful when they are finished!

Well that's pretty exciting - I'd love to be renovating our ensuite, which is dull and old-fashioned (not in an interesting or vintage way!)

Hi Maura,

The fluff balls are precious. Thank you for sharing. Can't wait to see this years babies.

Hm, your craft room certainly is much more "interesting" than mine. I must say - that has to be a first. (o:

Just remember "this too shall pass".

Maura I don't even want to think about re-models! Ours was a nightmare. It still haunts us here and there! At least you do it yourself and have some control. I think I will just focus on your darling little yellow pluff ball photos! Good luck on the bathroom reno! Love the toidie in your office-that's convenient!

Chicks are like cookies to me - they're hard to resist and forget about just one!

I miss being in an old house, quirks and all.

Good luck with the reno and thanks for sharing your pic of the toilet in your office. It made me remember the cartoon I used to have on my office wall of a desk with the toilet being the office chair!

Happy Spring!

Hi Maura, love the 'lil chickies pics. Cute! We've yet to start on our bathroom renovation because I know it will take a while and I just so hate for the house to be torn up. Frankly, I'm just dreading it. Good luck with your redo! Have a great day.

I certainly understand how you feel about the renovations. We're on the verge of starting our bathroom remodel as well. This is the last of the renovations for us, so I'm VERY ready to have it done. Oh, and good luck with your broody hens! I can't wait to see how they do. We have only hens and no rooster, but we've considered getting one so that we may have more chicks. : ) Melissa

Oh those chicks are BEAUTIFUL!! I too am in the middle of a small remodel. My dearest husband has 3 projects started - the kitchen, the bathroom and the front door. Ugh....none of them completed. Spring is coming which means we'll be switching to outdoor projects. Oh boy. :)
Have a great rest of the week.
