The Inspectors

Olly

Last week when we were still
able to paint before
the winds came up
and hubby
had his knee surgery...

...we had Inspectors.

Olly finding Lizzy

They were very thorough...

Chelsea watching the cats under the plastic

checking for spills...missed spots.

Bubba

They checked under the plastic...
and checked the equipment.

See the eye under the plastic on the left
in the picture above?

I think they were happy with our work.

Oh oh...THE BOSS just got home from work.

That means "TREAT TIME!"

They're also the "Welcoming Committee".

Hubby's surgery went well and he should
be back at work tomorrow night.
Thanks for all the kind words and
well wishes!

Today is our first warm calm day since
last Thursday....so you know
what I'll be doing today.

The Inspectors will be there for sure.

I hope you have a WONDERFUL week!

Morning In The Garden

Lizzy licking her lips after climbing into the watering can for a drink

The weather here in Kansas
has been strange this spring.

Last weekend we had temperatures
in the triple digits with high winds.
Not good conditions for painting the house.

The last couple of days we've been
waking up to temperatures
below 50 and it never got much
above 60 in the afternoons.
Definitely not usual weather for this area.

Wind has been a real problem
but one day last week
we finally got good enough
weather to go back to painting.

We didn't get much done as hubby's
knee has been very sore
and he was waiting to have
surgery which he finally
had yesterday.

Olly walking across the new lawn

If you look closely at the photo above
you'll notice all the little green things in the dirt.
It's elm tree seeds that have sprouted.
They're everywhere!
It seems every so many years elm trees
have more seeds than usual and this year
seems to be the year for ours.
:(

Looking forward to the flowers
and greenery spilling out of the
baskets on the bike.

I hope your weather has been better
than ours
and I hope you have a
wonderful weekend
doing something fun!

"Were You Born In A Barn?!"

Barn Home

"Were you born in a barn?!"

How many of us have had
that said to us before?

My Grandpa used to say that to me
every time he was around when
I forgot to shut the back door.

I hated those words!
There was
NO WAY
I was
BORN IN A BARN!

Now that I'm all grown up
I think I would rather like
being born in a barn...
a converted barn that is.

Imagine the possibilities.
Imagine the beams.
Imagine the feeling of
permanence.

It doesn't matter if you like
soaring ceilings  with
massive beam
and tall
windows that
let in lots of light or....

Heath Farm

Heath Farm

low slung ceilings
with low beams and smaller
windows
that give that cozy feel.

You can have your choice
or even
enjoy both under one roof!

For those of you who can answer
"YES!"
to that old question
I say...

LUCKY YOU!!

Would you like to be born in a barn?

An Answer, A Hint, And A Winner!

Renee Zellweger as Miss Potter

I haven't posted in a week!
I'm sorry....
this spring seems to be a very
busy one for us.

Between working on the new lawn
and shade garden, vegetable
garden, strawberry bed, weeding
watering...building a picket fence...
we are tuckered out!

We now have another project on the go
but I'll leave that for a bit later.
;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many of you have commented
that you like the background
music on my blog and wondered
what it was.
Well I finally remembered
to get back to you on that.
It's actually the theme from
the movie
MISS POTTER
staring Renee Zellweger.
I'm sure most of you have already
seen the movie and know that
 it is about
Beatrix Potter
the author
of
Peter Rabbit
and many
other wonderful
children's stories.
If by chance you haven't seen
the movie
please do!
If you like a good love story,
old English cottages and gardens
AND the English countryside
then this movie is for you.
Here are a couple of photo's of
Hilltop Farm
which was owned by
Miss Potter
and is in the movie.
I'd love to have a little cottage
with vines growing all over it like this one.
Sigh.
~~~~~~~~~~

We've been busy the last couple of days
...and we'll probably be at it
all week!

Can you guess what we're doing?

Here's a
HINT...

It figures...
now that we finally
get some warmer temperatures
and need to work outside
the weather decides to
skip spring
 and go right into summer
with a temperature of
98 F !

Needless to say
we are
NOT
acclimatized :(

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have a
WINNER!
The lucky winner of a
beautiful hand crafted
house # of their choice
from
is....
Oh goodness please don't
look too close...
I grabbed my old gardening hat!
# 19
(don't you just love that name)
Congratulations Devon!!
I will send them your information
and they will contact you.
I hope you'll send me a picture
once you receive your new sign.
Thank you to everyone who
entered!
Have a wonderful week.
Maura :)
