How many of us have had 

that said to us before?

My Grandpa used to say that to me

every time he was around when

I forgot to shut the back door.

I hated those words!

There was 

NO WAY

I was 

BORN IN A BARN!

Now that I'm all grown up

I think I would rather like

being born in a barn...

a converted barn that is.

Chickens In The Barnyard

Friday is a special day.

It is 

Farm Friend Friday

over at Amy's at

Verde Farm.

So I hope you will pop on over to visit

Amy and her hubby Richie in

West Virginia.

If you haven't been to visit her before I hope

you'll check out all her adorable

critters and take a look around

their beautiful farm.

In the meantime I hope you enjoy

a few pictures taken around our farm.

Some of these you have seen before

...sorry...

A lot has changed since these pictures

were taken. Fences have gone up,

buildings have been sold and taken down,

picket fences are going up, and

unfortunately our old

barn we were looking

forward to restoring burned down

last July. 

These photo's bring back happy memories.

I hope one day we will have another barn.

In the meantime when we get the time

(once the bee colony is re-located)

we will start renovations

to our old corn crib.

You never get bored on a farm.

September On The Farm

It's finally starting to feel like fall

here on the farm. The nights are cool and our days

have cooled off but are still comfortable in the 70's.

The tomatoes are still producing although we'll

be covering them soon to try and keep them going

a while longer.

The stawberries are still plucking away.

Not bad for their very first year.

 

The pumpkins and squash died before they

produced anything really usable

but they started up again.

I doubt they'll have time to do much

before the first frost.

The Basil is doing great!

Same with the Sage.

Old Socretese still guards the garden.

You can see the foundation of the old barn

that burned down in August.

We still have to cut the trees down

that were destroyed by the heat of the fire.

The last of the berry looking thing that grows

around the farm.

I think it's a weed that can be used for something

but I don't know what!

Can anyone fill me in on this?

This is the building that we have sold

and must be taken down and removed before the end of the year. I'm REALLY looking forward to being able to see

out into the fields beyond and to the trees along the creek.

This is all that I was able to pull out of the barn

during the fire.

We had at least 50 antique bird feeders in there

that I had planned on selling.

I saw one at the flea market for $75...I nearly cried.

The trees are starting to turn now with the cooler weather. I'm sad to see summer go

but there's something very special about fall.

It's time to 'nest'.

So with that in mind I am off to start

working on the piece I found

for the bathroom vanity!
