Last Thursday we had to head up to
Kansas City...which is a 3 1/2 hour
drive one way from our home.
It's a nice trip through some
very pretty country.
We really enjoy the trip but
this time hubby was getting
a little minor surgery done
around his
If you or anyone you know has hearing loss
or wear hearing aids...you should
look into this.
My husband has 2 implants
and he is so grateful to have his hearing
back after loosing it in Vietnam
The trip took us past our favorite
little school house on the prairie.
You can read all about it
And past some beautiful old barns.
It looks like this old barn is
getting fixed up.
Yes ...Kansas does have hills ;)
I'm not much of a 'city lover'
but it's a fairly easy trip
to the VA Hospital.
I don't like city traffic and since the
appointment was at 1:30
the roads were good
thank heavens!
It was good to finally be on our way
home. We took our time
and stopped to get a picture
of this historical marker.
We'd always meant to stop and
read it but never seemed
to have time until this day.
This time of year they burn off the
dead grass in the Flint Hills
in order to help the new grass
get a fresh start.
We were able to see them burning
the fields on the way home.
In the above photo you can see the smoke
in the distance.
You can see the results of the 'burns'.
I had to get a picture of this old abandoned
farmhouse...I wonder what their story was.
Above you can see active burning
of the pasture lands.
Remember the little old school house
with the two out houses?
Well this is what was happening behind it
on our way back.
It was a good trip home...a little smoky
but all in all a very entertaining and
pleasant drive.
Hubby is all fixed up
and life is good.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
Maura :)
