Fur Feathers And Fluffy Butts

It's been a while since I posted some

good photo's of the critters 

here on the farm

so for those animal lovers out there...

here you go!

Above is Olly.

He follows me and loves to be 

in the garden when I'm working.

He's always on the lookout for the

most comfortable spot to watch

the world go by.

 

Lizzy would have pushed him out 

if she could but Olly

wasn't budging

from his nice warm sunny spot.

 

  

Shep has to be close to the action.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chelsea is our little farm dog.

Her 'brother' Bubba our other Shih Tzu

is the 'house dog' but Chelsea

is definitely our

'FARM DOG'.

And she knows that's her title

because when ever well call her that

she wags her tail and looks

proud as punch. :) 

 

Here's Hope enjoying her meal.

 

 

We expanded the chickens run

to behind the coop/garden shed

under the trees.

They are enjoying the soft dirt

and the shade. 

 

This is Licorice.

She is a Barred Rock

and was bought as a chick along

with her 'sister' Gumball who

is no longer with us :( 

 

Blogger is really acting up this morning

and trying to force me to have blue 

type with underlining!

Anyway above is Buttercup who

was one of the chicks we 

bought along with Licorice.

Buttercup is a Buff Orpington.

 

Above is Queen Latifa.

She is a Black Australorp and

 has a 'sister' named Oprah.

 We've had them since they were

fluffy chicks.

We have 20 hens including one

Rhode Island Red named

Chicken Little

and a rooster. 

 

Lizzy has to check out the girls

'run' just in case there's 

something good to eat 

or something new to play with.

We'll have to watch her carefully

since we have two hens setting

on eggs and should have some

chicks by Monday.

They are in the 'brooder'

and are separate from the others

for now. They'll all be able 

to see each other once the chicks are

old enough to go out into their 'run'

but they'll be separate from the others 

until they are close to adult size. 

 

Fluffy Butts...aren't they cute!

 

Queen L again.

 

This is Romeo.

He's a Black Australorp

and he is the nicest rooster...not an

aggressive bone in his body.

He takes good care of the girls 

and they LOVE him ;) 

 

Shep has the title of

GUARD DOG.

He's smiling because I told him

how beautiful he was and that he was 

our GOOD GUARD DOG. 

 

Lastly here is a picture of Hope and Rosie

playing. I missed Hope rearing up 

and bucking...too bad. 

Well I hope you enjoyed seeing

some of our furry and feathered

friends here on the farm.

 Unfortunately we've got severe

weather warnings today

so the sun may not shine.

It's tornado season 

in Tornado Alley...

don't think I'll ever get used to it!  

It's Been Fun

Yesterday morning my sister Susan

left for home.

Unfortunately she had to leave a couple of

days earlier than expected

as the people she had gotten a ride 

with decided to leave on Sunday

instead of Tuesday.

Oh well...it was a wonderful visit

and we got lots of visiting in

and even found time for a 

day-trip!

We're grateful for any time we can

spend together.

I'm afraid I put my back out on Saturday

so I'm not able to sit here at the desk for

very long but I wanted to get a few pictures

posted for you. 

This is Olly enjoying his 'Aunty Susan'.

He's got a tough life doesn't he ;)

Sue enjoyed Olly as much as he enjoyed

his belly rub.

More photo's coming once I can sit longer

at the desk.

Almost Time!

Olly doesn't care that

company is on it's way.

He doesn't care than I'm

scurrying around making

sure things are ready for my

sister ♥Susan's♥ visit.

I'm so excited.

He's such an intense cat.

Nope he couldn't care less.

While Olly is 'hanging' out....

I on the other hand am busy

getting last minute things done.

You know...looking for 'dust bunnies'

cleaning the fridge

vacuuming

dusting

polishing

etc.

Hubby came down with the flu

so I'm trying to get everything done

as fast as I can just in case I come

down with it too!

They won't be here until tomorrow

but I also need to mow

and then get some baking done

so I've got my work cut

out for me .

An October Stroll Around The Farm

This morning I grabbed my camera and

headed out the door to take a few

photo's. 

Fall has started to show it's colors 

here on the farm

but unlike those of you 

in the Northwest and in the 

east...we don't get those beautiful

red trees in large numbers. 

Most of those trees are not 

native to our area so you have to go

into town or the city 

to enjoy them.

We have a few wild vines 

that turn red

so I enjoy them when they turn color.

I'm so glad this one survived the drought

as these were never watered.

Shep followed me out to the pasture

along with Henry and Olly.

Unfortunately for him he can't get 

through the fence so he waits 

patiently for our return.

He's watching Chelsea go through

the fence.

Some of the leaves are just starting to

 turn color.

Henry had fun hunting for anything 

that moved.

Olly takes life easy and watches Henry.

Shep still waiting patiently.

A good start to the woodpile

but we still have lots to split. 

The tree in front of the corn crib

is just starting to change color.

I wonder if the owl that lived in the barn

is now living in the loft of the corn crib.

Watermelon still growing in the garden.

The gourds should start drying

up soon.

Entertainment With Breakfast

I decided to have my breakfast

under the tree's this morning.

It's a BEAUTIFUL morning

and just perfect for enjoying

some of our home grown

Kansas Melons.

They're doing well despite

our terrible hot summer.

We've never planted these type 

before and we're very impressed

but we can see why they don't sell them

commercially as they don't have a long

shelf life.

Our mint is growing well too..

time to dry some for tea.

The Kansas melons are huge!

While I was enjoying my breakfast

Henry came to visit and 

decided to show off

for Lizzy and Olly

our two older cats.

When Henry discovered this old thing

it was LOVE at first scratch.

This morning he was up and down 

and sideways and you name it...

he was doing it.

Well...it was fun sitting in the shade

enjoying the 'fruits' of our labor

and enjoying Henry and his antics

but the temperature is rising 

and I've got watering to do

so I must run.
