Still Porch Dreaming

We have two porches on our little cottage.
A tiny front porch as you can see
in these two photo's...

...and the back porch in the
two pictures below. This is a porch/patio and is
partly covered which is nice when it rains.

Hubby has promised me a screened porch
one day. The roof will follow the roof line
on the right almost to where you see the roof
become steeper. The roof will slope down
towards the two windows on the left and end
just before them. It will also come 14 feet
out from the house this way.
The picture below shows this a bit better.

Since moving to the country nearly 2 years ago
on the 19th of June we have been busy renovating
and working on the yard so the porch
has been on the 'back burner'.

I'm afraid it will stay there for a while
as we still have things to do
that are higher on the priority list.

Still have to cut the posts and stain the fence

I have so many plans to decorate
the screened porch when the time comes
but the one thing that both
hubby and I are most excited about
is a hanging bed so we can
take afternoon naps on those
beautiful spring and fall evenings.

Can you imagine napping here on a
cool summer afternoon?
Wish we had those more often
here in Kansas!

Well we had one of those afternoons
this weekend and it got me to dreaming again.

Wouldn't you like to stretch out
with a good book on the bed below
and drift off to sleep...sigh.

For now the screened porch and
hanging bed is just a dream
but one day....

Do you have a hanging bed on your porch?

Have a wonderful week!

Love your porches. We have a sun room with Windows and screens....consider that as it is used most of the year. Love those porch beds. Neat idea.

A swinging porch bed would be such a treat - I can just imagine it on your porch.

I love the swinging porch beds and can just imagine what it would be like to have one. Your cottage is so cute. I like your picket fence.

No I have a washing line full of knickers ha ha
I did smile when you said you wished for some cool afternoons, here in England we are wishing for some sun. Its unseasonally chilly for June.
I think you will love having a hanging bed, I can't wait to see what you do.

Maura, I think the first time I ever saw a hanging bed was on your blog, and I fell in love ;) This is on the list for our "someday" porch. I must say again... I adore your home and the new color! A good thing for me to do today is clean up our porch #1 so we can enjoy it more. Porch #2 will be cleaned up another day soon. Thank you for the beautiful inspiration photos! -Tammy

Your home is adorable ! as are your porches ! I love all kinds of porches/patios. Our porches/patios are my favorite places to sit and watch all the nature in the summer around the cove !

Hi Maura, We don't have a porch, but a large patio off our walkout basement. We often sit out there in the evenings when it's not too hot. From there we can see our pond. We've often said it would be nice to have it screened in. I love the idea of the hanging bed. Your photos were fun to look at. I love the look of your little cottage and the screened in porch will be a wonderful addition. ~Cheryl

It takes so much time to fix up an old house, doesn't it? But it's going to be soooo beautiful when you get all your projects finished! Hey, we get one or two cool afternoons in Kansas... in the fall. ;-) The pictures of the porch swing/beds are really dreamy. What a wonderful place to take a little nap that would be. Be sure to stop by my blog, I'm having a giveaway.

I just love the soft yellow of your cottage Maura, and I can only imagine what's in store for the porches.
We have front and back porches, they are used more than any other rooms of the house.
Such a lovely home you have created !

I can't have one because there's no room. But in a way, I'm glad because I'd have a hard time choosing just one from all these lovely choices!

Wow! I don't have a hanging bed but I would sure love one. What a great way to spend an afternoon. We have a covered back porch and a swinging bed would be perfect. I hope you will get your porch sooner than you think.

Don't have a hanging bed but I do have a lovely swing Maura ... come join me downunder!

I reckon the wait for the porch and the bed will be well worth it and you will probably enjoy it all the more.

Warmest hugs,
Sandi
