Random Shots

Is it just me or do you find it hard to think of things to blog about at this time of year?

Outside once the snow melts everything is brown and dirty ...at least that's what it's like here at our cottage in the country.

Oh it was pretty when it snowed but I never got outside right away and then the wind came up and all my pretty little snowy spots were blown away.
Lesson learned...get outside even while it's snowing and
TAKE PICTURES!
SO...now I'm hunting for things to take pictures of or going through old pictures trying to figure out what you might find interesting.
I've found a few pictures but I'm still searching.
I figured the next best thing was to just walk around and take pictures of things around the cottage.
So without further ado...

I put this picture in because our bedroom door was finally open and you get a little glimpse of our bedroom...a room I have never taken pictures of.
Don't know why but I think it's because I feel like I'm not finished decorating in there.
The door on the opposite side is to our guest bedroom.

The tree is down and things are back to normal.
I put a crochet throw on the love seat for the barn cats that we finally allowed in the house.
It was a good decision ;) ...to bring the cats in that is.

I think this is my favorite piece of furniture.
Isn't the grain beautiful and look at those curves!
I should have taken a picture of the glass on the upper part of the secretary...the center section is bowed on both doors.

These are some details on a little table that my husband got for nothing back in the 70's.
It fell of the back of a truck when neighbors were moving and they just threw it in the garbage. Hubby asked if he could have it and they said yes so he fixed it. One day they saw it and asked for it back...he said NO.
I'm glad.

Don't look too close or you'll see the dust.
Lesson #2 ....dust before you take up-close pictures!

Above is a picture of my favorite spot to read.
I bought the chair at a flea market and the table and the pillow I bought from a fellow blogger.

I found this little dog at a garage sale...I think he's cute.

I finally decided what pictures I wanted from artist
Robert Duncan.
I thought these were perfect for the farm.

A bit of a glimpse at the guest room.

Lizzy was my photo stylist.

Love this little clock...a Hobby Lobby find.

I bought this lamp from a sweet little store in the town not too far from where we live. Unfortunately it closed down last year. I really miss it.

Well there you have it. I hope you enjoyed a little walk around the cottage with me...and Lizzy.

Are you finding it hard to post this time of year?

Enjoy your day.
Maura :)

First off, "Hi, Lizzy. You look adorable as usual." Your home is so beautiful and inviting. I would love to have tea with you in your kitchen (I've seen it before in pics and loved it) Your guest room looks lovely and it is so nice that you have brought the cats in. I, too have brought one in from the cold. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5

Maura, I adore your home with all the charming decorations. I know what you mean about bloging topics. It is so much nicer in the Spring when we have the beautiful outdoors to write about.

Lizzy looks beautiful and so sweet. I really like the green plants that you have inside. I use to grow plants inside, but some how time took its toll on them. My cats would eat them or play with them.

Thanks for sharing the darling home you live in and for giving us such a fresh perspective to living in the moment.

Yeah, it's definitely harder to find something to post in the middle of winter! There's not much to blog about when you can't go outside very often. (I talk a lot so I blog a lot regardless of how boring things are! tehee).

Btw, you have a gorgeous home!! When I first started looking through them I was thinking the pictures looked like they belonged in one of those fancy home magazines!! :)

Maura, I love your home and your style. i want a secretary so badly and I want an antique one but have yet to find one. I love yours-it is gorgeous. I love that table with the lion heads. What a wonderful treasure. I bet they did want it back. The pictures you chose--perfect. I also love the guest room shots--that would be a wonderful room to stay in and wake up with light filtering through the lace panel. I want lace panels for my cottage but haven’t done that yet--this spring I will.

I am definitely struggling to find things too. It’s brown and gloomy outside so I have no desire to take any pictures nor would anyone want to see those. I need some motivation myself. I’m thinking on a few things but this was a great pick me up--loved it :)

Ok...this is scary but Amy (Verde Farms) said EXACTLY what I was going to say about your guest room! What a lovely photo of a lovely room... and the sun coming in makes it look so cozy and inviting.

I love seeing a little bit of the "layout" of your place too... and the old fashioned way that bedrooms open up off of public spaces with no hallway. I'm always shocked when people on design/home buying tv shows are always so surprised about this in an old home.

For someone with "bloggger's block" you sure came up with beautiful photos and wonderful text.

~Chris

PS I will send you the photos of the little cottage I was talking about... I couldn't find the ones I had so I took so more pics this past weekend and still need to upload them.

It's so nice to 'meet' you! ;-) I love your beautiful cottage - as well as all of the beautiful photos on the sidebar. Lilacs are my favorite flower! Growing up, my mom had one very large bush in the back yard, and I remember for a short time each year lilacs were in every corner of our house! Oh, the scent!

Idea's for blog posts tend to be feast or famine with me. Right now I have many, many ideas, just not enough time to get everthings done. Give me a month and I'll be in your position.

If I haven't said it before, I'll say it now - - your home is so cozy looking. I enjoyed your random post. You have so many beautiful furinature pieces and your arrangments are so pretty.

Here's to hoping inspriation will come your way soon!

p.s. Would love to know the paint color on your kitchen walls!

Your cottage is so beautiful! Mine is a mess! We may be having a DVD filmed here though. Friends who have a recording studio are looking for a venue that looks like a traditional bothy to film two traditional Scottish singers. We have some exposed stone walls that would make a good backdrop. Shoould be fun....and I will really have to tidy!
Your photos are inspirational. I went outside in my night dress and wellies to get our snowy photos heehee.

Maura, I just love everything about your home. It's charming, cozy, and so full of love. I could stay forever. Thanks for taking us for a tour.

I'm so glad your husband scooped up that table, it's so unique and beautiful!

I love your choices of Robert Duncan's art. I've seen the boy and his dog walking in front of the cows before and have always admired it, it's so country and classic. A very delightful piece, I would have picked it too!

Yes, inspiration is low this time of year but I find it comes when I stop looking for it! : )

Have a beautiful day!
Hugs ~Andrea~

Hi! Thanks for helping me change my name on here - thought I'd use one of your photos as my picture, too. It's such a wonderful memory every time I see it! True happiness!

Your blog is great! Your pictures are wonderful. I love the angles you use and how you present the pieces in them. You have such a great eye for that. Your home is wonderful. I'm sure no one would have noticed any dust - still can't see it - if you hadn't said anything! lol You have lots of interesting pieces and an incredible knack for showing them off. I can hardly wait to get down there and see it all for myself! Thanks for brightening the day! Love you...Scufty

Maura these are such wonderful "everyday life" photos. Such a warm and welcoming looking home it's just beautiful. I must say you also have quite an adorable photo stylist. My Caity bug is quite the helper too - just can't get the job done without them can we?
Have a great weekend.

Great shots! I love the wood floors, that's what I want 'next time around'--very easy to take care of, if something spills...so what? I don't want to fret over carpet boo-boos anymore. I am going to leave your blog 'open' cause the photos and decorations are so inspiring. Very comfy, cozy. The photo of the kitty is AWESOME! So cute! Love the lamp--I'm a huge fan of Hobby Lobby too. The Robert Duncan prints--I just discovered him. Bought a calendar and I will definitely be framing some of the prints. His style fits perfectly with your home. Just looking at his work lowers my blood pressure. So enjoyed these photos--yes, I sometimes have 'writer's block', and like you, I run through photos to get ideas. You did good, girl! C-ya!

I just adore what you've done with your little cottage, Maura. It's so pretty with all of the antiques and feminine touches. I love your secretary... I share your love for fine-crafted old furniture. They sure don't make things like the used to, do they? Thanks for stopping by and dropping me a note of encouragement. It warmed my heart. : )
