By The Beautiful Sea

We broke another record yesterday with a temperature of
109 degrees!

Our lawn is turning yellow in places
and it's hard to even go out to check for eggs.

So
I'm turning my thoughts to far away places where cool ocean breezes blow and the beach is just right out   my door.

Oh ya.

Can't you just see yourself laying here reading a book and sipping a margarita
I can hear Jimmy Buffet playing softly in the background.
Sigh.

And of course if you're staying at the beach
you need a little
Beach Cottage Decor

Don't you just love these colorful old pails.

Well I don't know about you but I
feel a bit cooler.

If you could go anywhere you wanted when the weather is hot...where would it be?

I hope you're enjoying your day.

Maura :)

Oh, thank you for the little mini vacation via your blog! :o) Beautiful beachy photos. I remember having little metal beach pails when I was a child (guess that dates me a bit...lol). Such fun to play with, so much better than bright colored plastic pails. Anyway, thanks! I can almost feel the marine breeze and smell the salt air.

Hi Miss Maura,

Ah, by the sea...

We thought it was hot here, but 109 degrees....yikes.

Please be careful, that is a dangerous temperature. How long until fall?

We hope all the pets are okay. Boy, by the time you collect up the eggs they could be "cooked" all ready. (Not even a giggle funny). )o:

Hugs, and be safe

Mom too, of course

Thanks for the tour of the beach houses. I feel cooler already. I am suprrised that your chickens are even laying eggs in this heat.

I would go anywhere that is cool right now. Maybe Canada or the North Pole.

Do you have a misting system? I put one on my umbrella on my deck and it lowers the temp by 20 degrees. Our deck faces the hot west sun.

Here is hoping that we don't both melt. That would be a hard way to loose some much needed weight.

Have a great day.

I just head down to the beach - but then it never gets really hot up here and a jacket is still required every evening. That's summer on the Island.

If I had a choice, one of those beautiful Beachfront cottages would suit me just fine. I live at “the beach” but not waters edge. Big difference. Also big city beach isn’t like Florida beach or Santa Barabra beach...But I did get to Laguna yesterday to shop my favorite thrift store and even though it took a long time to even find a place to park it was worth it to put my toes in the water.. luv ya, stay cool somehow sweet one.

Your going to melt! Our high is only 91 today and that feels pretty good.

Quilting is so fun and I have a easy pattern for a table runner that I made when I first started. Its just squares and then you add these cute pumpkins on each end. Email me with your address and I will mail you a copy of the pattern.

There's nothing like the beach to forget the woes of the weather! Any day at the beach and spent at a place like this is better than being at home!! Stay cool--We're trying to in Virginia too!

Love the post Maura ... I could really do with a little of your heat right now ... much prefer summer to winter ... the cold gets into my bones!

Those little sand pails took me back a few years to when I was just a youngster ... I had one just like them.

Warmest Hugs,
Sandi @ Bearly Sane

I don't know quite where I'd go. Some place by the ocean, I suppose. You're so right. The sight of these beachy themes just somehow make you feel cooler and more serene.

Really cool pics Maura!
I would love to be there right now, no cares in the world.
Fun to dream.

Maura, I haven't been to visit you lately to leave a comment. I had a problem with blogger to where it wouldn't let me leave a comment, up load a picture, to where I finally gave up and went to bed. Maybe it was giving me a message. I liked your pictures today. I wouldn't have minded a little of the snow. Our weather has been like yours terribly hot. I know going in and out of the air conditioning doesn't make you few very good. Take care and try to stay cool.

I found your blog by reading comments on some of my followers. I am always looking for fellow Kansas Bloggers. We live in Kansas too and I adore the midwest. However, we just returned from visiting my Son and his family in Colorado where the high was 80 and the low at night in the 50's so I am with you with finding cool breeezes. Today we actually had cooler temps of 91. WOW. Happy to get to know ya.

Maura, I'm so excited. I came across your blog when visiting Cozy Little House. I do not have a blog but I live in Kansas, I didn't think anyone in KS blogged. I'm looking forward to following your farm house dream. Your post was very refreshing, hot it is.
