Just Things

I've been struggling for a while now
with my posts.

Usually this time of year I'm outside taking photo's around the farm but this year everything looks
terrible because of the drought
and our rusty water has
my poor newly
planted
gardens
looking terrible!

Inside the cottage things haven't changed much
so then I feel like I'm boring you
with photo's of the same
thing!

But then I realized something...
I don't mind seeing
other bloggers photo's again
so I thought...maybe you won't mind either.

So here goes!

I love my white enamel
and I'm always on the prowl
for something new.

I still haven't stripped the old wall paper
on this one wall in the kitchen.

One day hubby wants to do some
renovations in here so I may
just wait for that.

The wash stand below is perfect
in this spot.
Inside is all my excess and super
long tin foil and plastic wrap
etc along with extra egg cartons.
I pile them underneath too!

See the cream and sugar below?
I bought them hanging
just like this.

I liked the pattern on them.

This China set was given
to me by one of our
neighbors
when we lived in the city.

They were really wonderful neighbors.
I miss them.

I love this 'dresser'
it's HUGE!
I bought it off
Craigslist for $100

Another favorite Craigslist purchase
was this antique secretary.
We drove all the way to
Arkansas to pick it up.

It has the most wonderful
wood grain
and the glass bulges slightly.
It's like they poured the glass
over the wooden frame
and it cooled in that shape.

It also has beautiful claw feet...
sorry I didn't show them.

Just a few other favorite things.
The blue Willow lantern
is special...my Dad bought it for
me when he and my Step mom
came to visit when I lived in British Columbia.

Above the old pitcher on the right
belonged to my Gr. Grandmother.
The one on the left was given
to my by another neighbor
years ago.

The large platter above
came from my gift shop
I owned in a little ski village
in British Columbia Canada

The Blue Willow I bought from
Sears back in the early 80's.

I hope you enjoyed
seeing my 'things'
again and I hope you
won't hold back from showing
some of your favorite things too.

Have a great week!

Maura :)

I know what you mean about things looking horrible outside. About a month ago, my whole yard just shriveled up and died - flowers, grass, even the trees look sad.

Your things are absolutely lovely, and the hanging sugar and creamer is such a unique way to display pieces.

I enjoyed it Maura because I haven't seen many of your photos.
You sure had a generous neighbor-to give you those beautiful dishes. And I love the way the cugar dish and creamer are hanging off the edge of your cabinet.
You have many lovely pieces of furniture.. I like the mix of woods-not all alike.
Take care-Kimberly

The secretary is beautiful! It was well worth the drive for that!
All of the china is beautiful!
I adore the white kitchen scales and enamelware!
I doubt anyone was bored seeing your things again!
I hope we all can get outside this week. I have been so use to seeing 100's every day on the 7 day forecast, my heart jumped for joy seeing 90's and even one day in the 80's this coming week! They are even saying rain! RAIN!! WOOHOO!
Have a great Monday!

Lovely things - I enjoyed them all. Nothing like good pictures of vintage dishes when it is too hot to be outdoors.

I love the idea of the hanging sugar and creamer as I have one or two with missing lids. Great to see your collections and isn't it nice that they have so much meaning and memories? Thanks for the tour.

I actually ALWAYS enjoy seeing your lovely things..."Lilac Lane Cottage" is exactly what this girl, stuck in the city for now, aspires to. Also, I must admit that there are times while looking at so many beautiful blogs, that I feel like a total nit-wit at gardening because the farms and gardens are all so beautiful and mine is so very, very ugly. While I am NOT glad that yours is struggling, I must admit that it makes me feel better to know that at least I am not alone. Here's to wishing for some rain and cooler temperatures for all of us! You and all of your little honeys hang in there!

Hello! I love seeing all these things .. I never get tired of looking at the photos! I really like how you've arranged your home and how you Americans have a particular style so than the Italians. I am tired of our way, sometimes too futuristic. I prefer the country style and shabby-chic. Congratulations! Kisses, Kiki.

I didn't mind at all because I haven't seen your things, loved the sugar and creamer hanging like that! I also can't believe you bought that dresser for $100.00 what a steal that was!

I don't blame you for hanging out inside! Enjoy your pretties and stay close to the AC. Thanks for showing your collections, it's nice to look at something pretty--instead of dried up grass!

Wow...what a collection Maura. I'm surprised you get time to post at all with all the dusting you must have to do?
All worth it though.
I've just moved house for the 11th time and I'm always in a dilemma about my belongs breaking or going missing...I'd be very nervous if I had your collection!
Really enjoyed seeing your beautiful treasures ;) Thanks for sharing with us x
My shih tzu Muffin was very taken with your doggy photo's too.

This senior citizen hates housework, so I don't keep up with things as I once did. And all that means that I seldom take photos inside my own house but I really appreciate seeing beautiful homes like yours. I never tire of seeing others treasures! Thanks for the tour. It was fun! Have a wonderful day. ~Cheryl

What lovely things you have collected over the years. I should go around my house and start snapping some photos. Even if I don't post them it is good to have a photo of your things for insurance purposes.
