Entertainment With Breakfast

I decided to have my breakfast
under the tree's this morning.

It's a BEAUTIFUL morning
and just perfect for enjoying
some of our home grown
Kansas Melons.

They're doing well despite
our terrible hot summer.

We've never planted these type
before and we're very impressed
but we can see why they don't sell them
commercially as they don't have a long
shelf life.

Our mint is growing well too..
time to dry some for tea.

The Kansas melons are huge!

While I was enjoying my breakfast
Henry came to visit and
decided to show off
for Lizzy and Olly
our two older cats.

This is our 'hitching post'.

This is Henry.

This is Henry on the 'hitching post'.

When Henry discovered this old thing
it was LOVE at first scratch.

This morning he was up and down
and sideways and you name it...
he was doing it.

Well...it was fun sitting in the shade
enjoying the 'fruits' of our labor
and enjoying Henry and his antics
but the temperature is rising
and I've got watering to do
so I must run.

I hope your day is a WONDERFUL one
and have a GREAT weekend!

Maura :)

Just dropped in for lunch on a busy day and came across your post. WOW! That kitten has grown. He is so handsome. I love to see them play outside in a safe environment in natures garden. He is really a doll. Enjoy that fruit...it looks delicious. The weather here is hot as blazes today but we are in for a week of rain so no complaining here. Have a great weekend Maura and kiss the kitties for me. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4

It is amazing though how cats can balance themselves.

We could not find one of our cats a while back and looked and looked all over the house. We were afraid she had gotten out, and she was not an outdoor cat. After about an hour of serching the house and yard, we found her sitting up in a very high windowsill. How she got there we will never know. It took a ladder to get ther down. Oh, to be that agile.

We are having a beautiful day here also. I made a picnic lunch for my granddaughters and we sat under the Willow Tree. There have not been many of days like this the past few months. We have to take advantage of it.

The melons in MO have been wonderful this year too. Amazing to me, with our extended dry & oppressive heat spell. Love your photos, and Henry is adorable (we have a Henry kitty too) :) have a great weekend!! -Tammy

hello maura,
the fruit is spectacular. they are $3.49 a piece here in alabama and that seems steep to me. i'm dating myself, but my grandmother sold hers at market for 25 cents. she would be amazed. those grown at home are always more juicy.
little henry is growing so fast! he looks very happy and well-adjusted. can't get tired of his pictures.
best wishes for your weekend.

Hello Maura,

Those melons look so delicious, juicy and sweet ! I just love all the produce of summertime.

Little Henry looks like a barrel of fun, up and down the hitching post and showing off :)
I once had a yorkie named Henry, he had the same personality...

Love your pictures, it always is a pleasure to visit your little farm there on Lilac Lane.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Hugs,
Jo

maura hello sweet! your photos make me feel close to you there. I bet if we could know, would be good friends. Do not you think? I like the melon and watermelon but I prefer even pureed. Tonight I made a cake instead of tapioca and coconut milk. Very good! Your cats are beautiful, those in the sidebar and Henry. A hug, see you soon, Kiki.

Hi Maura,
Henry is adorable....and your melons....oh my, look so scrumtious! I love to eat outside...what a great start to your day. We had one melon grow and it was the size of a softball.....delicious, but definitely not enough. My melon vines all got a fungus of some sort.....blah!

Raining here in PA this weekend....... but we need it.

Maura, what a delicious and entertaining post it trully was. Those melons made me hungry for a slice, and Henry had me laughing all the way over here with his amusing antics. You entitled this post well!! I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday. While all of the USA is hoping things will cool down a bit, we were thrilled over here this weekend to finally have some sunshine and temps in the 80's. Marvelous.
