Look at that face.
Hope knows that 'Dad' is bringing
something good to eat.
Right on schedule.
She nickers at seeing the bucket.
I wonder if she'll be this excited when
we start working her in the round pen
that we built last weekend.
I spent Monday afternoon staining it.
I bet the horses don't care.
We used an old hedge post we found
on the farm. I've got an old cast iron
bracket that we'll put up high
and I'll hang an old lantern from it.
Just for the heck of it.

Hope is obviously an intelligent female who knows when a treat is on its way.
All the work you spent staining the enclosure has made it look nice Maura, whether the horses care or not. I like the backdrop of trees behind it.
Judith
there's your pretty chestnut! :)
This is one beautiful mare, intelligent too by the look on her face but importantly her age and her name? not questions to ask a lady I do hope she does not take offence!
Hope obviously has her dad figured out--love the third picture!
Good job on the pen!
such a pretty colored horse. such a peaceful place to live. i wonder if she realize how lucky she is to live in such beautiful country. wow, such great views. (:
she is so pretty. Chestnut mares have a reputation for being feisty, lets hope she works in her corall without any fireworks :-D
She is really pretty. I miss having horses! Have a great day, Maura.
Love that face!! The fence looks great, even if the horses don't care, it looks good! You make me miss having horses!! Perhaps someday...
Wonderful photos . Lots of fence there to be stained bet your glad its done ! Looks great . Have a good day !
You will love having the pen! Probably much more than your horse ;-) I spent the morning getting mine all up to date on shots and Coggins :-)
What a beautiful horse! Your pen is wonderful. I'm sure you'll enjoy it even if she isn't quite a certain.
Hi Maura: Aw, life on the farm. So romantic to all us city slickers, but a lot of hard work. You can really see Hope's eyes change as Dad and pail are getting closer. Your ring looks great, lot's of working, building and staining, I bet. Such a pretty setting. Can't wait to see you working the horses..Happy Thursday, Judy
He's a looker!
You have no idea how i want to SMELL everything you show/tell about.
Buck, a client's horse is getting his teeth cleaned today. He was an abused boy & now has his own pet dog in the pasture, can pull a carriage, and loves for girls to ride him.

Beautiful horse!
Precious.
looks great, love the 'just for the heck of it' rope hangin there! =)
Maura, What a beauty. It looks good that you stained your fence. It always makes things nice. Hard work pays off. Smiles, Susie
There you go again decorating : )
Hi Maura..
Great job on the round pen.
I'm not a bit surprised that you have added the extra touches.
The lantern will be an adorable addition :)
She certainly is a pretty horse.. and pretty smart too!
HOW cool is that? Love it...and love that Hope looks HOPEful that she is getting something good! xo Diana
Those eyes are watching you . . . quite the homestead you are creating. I enjoy your updates . . .
What a beauty. SHe looks like she is talking to you with her eyes. It looks like she is saying, "I hope you are bringing me the good stuff."
My son perks up like that when there's food in the offing!
Loved visiting you again...I've missed nipping over.
I'll have to read back over your posts to see what I've missed ;D
Have a wonderful weekend xox

Pretty mare-and great job on the corral. I hope she takes to her training.
Gorgeous horse, Maura, and I love that you built the corral with recycled materials. :)
Maura, I love your blog, can I live here? Beautiful, beautiful...so glad I stumbled in! Have a great day!
she's so cute. i love horses. you guys did a great job on the corral and the lantern will be the perfect touch.
Great round-pen!! And yes, I do believe the horses appreciate the pretty staining you did :)
Hope is gorgeous. Look at that shiny coat! Happy and healthy..all we could ask for!
Have a lovely!

Oh my gosh, I best not show this post to my husband. He has always wanted a round pen.
And last summer we were busy builing a corral for the cows...lots of work.
And that would mean more post digging.....which I just posted about on MY blog, a post digging accident.
I love how you "stained" the pen. You're my kind of girl. I am always trying to "fancy things up" around here too.....usually to no avail.
Beautiful horse! Great pictures. Hope to see some of her being trained gently in the round pen. Great work you did, no matter if the horses care, we do :-)
Such a beautiful girl. And you're right. I don't think they care about all the work you did to make their work area look so good! ;)
