Anticipation

Look at that face.

Hope knows that 'Dad' is bringing
something good to eat.

Right on schedule.

She nickers at seeing the bucket.

I wonder if she'll be this excited when
we start working her in the round pen
that we built last weekend.

I spent Monday afternoon staining it.
I bet the horses don't care.

We used an old hedge post we found
on the farm. I've got an old cast iron
bracket that we'll put up high
and I'll hang an old lantern from it.

Just for the heck of it.

Hope is obviously an intelligent female who knows when a treat is on its way.
All the work you spent staining the enclosure has made it look nice Maura, whether the horses care or not. I like the backdrop of trees behind it.

This is one beautiful mare, intelligent too by the look on her face but importantly her age and her name? not questions to ask a lady I do hope she does not take offence!

Hope obviously has her dad figured out--love the third picture!

she is so pretty. Chestnut mares have a reputation for being feisty, lets hope she works in her corall without any fireworks :-D

What a beautiful horse! Your pen is wonderful. I'm sure you'll enjoy it even if she isn't quite a certain.

Hi Maura: Aw, life on the farm. So romantic to all us city slickers, but a lot of hard work. You can really see Hope's eyes change as Dad and pail are getting closer. Your ring looks great, lot's of working, building and staining, I bet. Such a pretty setting. Can't wait to see you working the horses..Happy Thursday, Judy

You have no idea how i want to SMELL everything you show/tell about.

Buck, a client's horse is getting his teeth cleaned today. He was an abused boy & now has his own pet dog in the pasture, can pull a carriage, and loves for girls to ride him.

Oh my gosh, I best not show this post to my husband. He has always wanted a round pen.
And last summer we were busy builing a corral for the cows...lots of work.
And that would mean more post digging.....which I just posted about on MY blog, a post digging accident.
I love how you "stained" the pen. You're my kind of girl. I am always trying to "fancy things up" around here too.....usually to no avail.

Beautiful horse! Great pictures. Hope to see some of her being trained gently in the round pen. Great work you did, no matter if the horses care, we do :-)

Such a beautiful girl. And you're right. I don't think they care about all the work you did to make their work area look so good! ;)
