It's HOT here in Kansas.
The weather all over is a little nuts this year
and many of us are
suffering through a serious heatwave.
According to the computer
it's going to be 105' here today.
Again.
As I was watering the garden
AGAIN
I started thinking how nice it would
be to lay in a hammock
in the SHADE
by the WATER
with temperatures around 80
and a nice soft breeze.
Sigh
A light bulb came on
and I thought
why not do a post on it!
So I start looking up
images of
hammocks
and these strange looking things
came up!
They are called a
They were designed by
Daniel Pouzet
and
Fred Frety
(who are from Paris)
for
Strange looking aren't they.
But imagine having one like the photo
above...
hanging from a tree
in the shade
HEAVEN
Wonder how that guy got in there
without getting wet?
But wouldn't that be wonderful
to be in something like this
BESIDE the water.
Oh my.
These things are pretty big!
How much?
I have no idea
but I bet they're don't go cheap.
Seems they don't have a price out
on the internet...hmmm.
So I guess unless I win the lottery
I'll only have one
in my
dreams.
Would you buy one?
(if you could afford it)
Maura :)

Looks wonderful dont they ! They almost look like a bee hive in a way ! It is very hot and humid here as well and we havent had rain for 4 weeks so everything is soo dry, also have to water gardens every evening. Hope we all get releife soon ! Stay cool and have a good day !
It does look very inviting, a private little sanctuary/get away.
Have a lovely summer ~ FlowerLady
Hi Maura,
Very interesting hammock indeed. And most likely very expensive. However, if I had one it wouldn't be over water. I am thinking - moving back and forth, watching to water rocking - no, I wouldn't trust myself to not having sea sickness (hammock sickness). It would have to be just above grass. (o:
Hope you are having a wonderful day and please be careful in that heat.
Hugs.
They look like giant wicker Hershey kisses! Look comfy though!
Lovely photos! Its a dreary 59' here in England and it's supposed to be our summer :-O
I am planning on taking the dogs to the beach tomorrow, come rain or shine! the forecast is for sunny intervals and a mediocre 55'
SEND ME SOME SUN URGENTLY MAURA!
I'm not sure if I should laugh or get one. LOL They are for sure interesting.

I love it and if I had one I would probably only use it in Fall and Winter!
Wonder how much they do go for?
xo, misha
How wonderful! Aren't there birds that build nests like this? It reminds me of the time when I was a little fairy in a high school play, and I had to dangle high over the stage, sitting in a suspended wicker basket chair. (remember those from the 70's?)
That heat sounds like a nightmare to me. not to bad in S.Calif.
I'm stuck on trying to figure out how that guy got out there without getting wet!
They do look peaceful and cozy.
They look a lot of fun ! would the midges get you though ?
They look a lot of fun ! would the midges get you though ? -they would here !
How cool is that!!! I could see one hanging from my mulberry tree.
It's almost to hot for the beach!!
Stay cool Maura!
I believe I'd buy two!
I like the wicker Hershey kiss comment. I think they might make me dizzy, but I have a couple of kids who would love one!
We've been reading about the terrible heat across the continent, but have experienced none at all. It's sweater-cool here on the Island, but I'd still like one of those Nests!
I don't think I'd buy one Maura but I am all for the hanging bed that retracts to the ceiling for the porch. Now that was a great idea you had!
Interesting find,,,I have never seen a "nest",,,but would be fun to hang over the water in one!! We have had some strange weather on the prairies this year, but are not in a heat wave, thank goodness! Stay cool!
I have never seen such things, but i am sure it would be relaxing for me to be in one of them. They are so huge, it must cost quite a lot of money!!! (here it is COLD, very cold!) have a nice day, Catherine
I'd buy one is a second. Don't those look fun and relaxing! Love it. Have a great weekend.
Hmmmm, they are a bit strange but kinda cool. I think I'd like to be in one by the water right now.
It's really hot here too, 102 temp today!
Stay cool!
Hugs,
Donna
I WANT ONE!!!! How cool they are!
I have a great vintage hammock under our trees for hubby, but toooooo hot to lay in it at the moment!
those look pretty good right about now....
never have seen them before
happy to see you at farmhouse kitchen and happy to stop by....
have a wonderful day and stay cool....
kary and teddy
Hi Maura
These sure are different. We have nowhere to hang one but the grands would love it if one were on the deck to play in.

Hi! Today in Italy I saw the news and I saw that in Kansas the temperatures are very high and there's plenty of moisture..They said that 22 people are died for the temperatures..Is true? Here it's ok.There is a nice fresh breeze.. Good night,Kiki.
Think they are really nice....have seen a lot in South Africa....
Love your blog.
Shel
Yes, I would buy a nest rest.........but then I probably couldn't afford to buy a tree to hang it from....or a river to hang it over.
