Mother Goose

It was a beautiful weekend with sunshine and warm weather...the kind of days you want to be outside enjoying the fresh air. The goslings are getting so big that I thought I'd take them outside for a bit just to see what they'd do. Our vegetable garden was just tilled up but I hadn't planted anything yet and it is fence in so I thought that would be a great place to let them loose so no dogs or chickens or cats could get to them. Well...it was just about the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life. I put them down and as I started to walk away...they followed me every where I went...calling out to each other and me as we walked all over the garden. The ground was a bit uneven plus they are a little wobbly on their legs so they stumbled and bumbled around but managed to keep up and seemed VERY happy to see the big wide world.

We went over to a little grassy area and I sat down and they 'talked' to me the whole time as they watched the chickens and the cats and dogs on the other side of the fence. Of course everyone was curious about these little peeping fluff balls too!

We had conversations about staying inside the fence and watching out for hawks
and chasing bugs.

We sat out there for quite a while before I figured it was time for them to have a drink and a nap...so we headed back to the gate...all 3 of us. Hubby thought it was great so ran off to get the camera....he said he only took 5 pictures...there were 42 in all!!!

Presley or Percy? Which one do you like?

Peek!

I'm so glad we have these pictures to remember these sweet little goslings...one day I'm sure it will be difficult to believe they were ever this small. It's times like these that make us so happy that we finally achieved our dream of living on a farm in the country. Life is good!

It won't be long now!

I have been waiting for nearly a year to see the lilac groves on our farm bloom. Last year we moved to the property around the middle of June ...too late to see any lilacs in bloom plus we had a deep freeze in early spring that killed most of the lilac and fruit tree blossoms. As a result there were really no lilac blossoms for the former owners to enjoy before they moved and certainly NO fruit after we moved in. This year however the fruit tree's are COVERED in blossoms and best of all for me....the lilac bushes have exceeded my expectations and are absolutely bursting with blossoms about to open. For the last two days I have been watching the groves carefully and have noticed that some of the buds are starting to open...I'm THRILLED! I even stuck my nose close and OH MY....the aroma is wonderful...if I could just bottle it up I'd be very happy. I can just imagine what it will be like when the whole grove to the south and west of us is in full bloom...I can't wait!!!

Enjoying Spring

Peach blossoms

This has been a busy few days for us...getting the new vegetable garden tilled and ready for planting and getting ready for company. Before the rush I did manage to get out and enjoy a nice warm sunny morning with some of the animals and my camera. It's so nice to be outside when it's not windy and we've had our fair share of wind this winter and spring. I hope you are enjoying spring where ever you are!

Cottage Bathroom Ideas

My dream bathroom! Really!

After spending 3 months working on the old farmhouse just so we could move in...we kind of got burned out on renovations for a while. We still need to do our kitchen and bathroom and laundry room/back porch so I've been getting idea's together just so I'm prepared when Hubby says he's ready to tackle the next project. I doubt very much that will be any time soon which is ok with me as it gives me time to gather my ideas and dreams for each room. Our one existing bathroom is a cozy little thing with two windows which makes it a bright cheery room to be in. Hey if you're going to spend any time in there you may as well have it put you in a good mood...right?! We don't plan on changing the floor plan in there....just put in new floor and fixtures re-do the walls and ceiling and fix some plumbing. As I was searching for ideas I came across a bathroom that has really got me thinking about a master bathroom. Hubby would like to put a second bathroom off our bedroom which is a great idea but I was fine with just one bathroom...that was until I saw this particular bathroom. It is my DREAM bathroom...literally. I had drawn up plans on paper and this photo was nearly exactly like I invisioned the area where the re-glazed claw footed tub would go...seeing the photo really made it real and Hubby was able to get a good visual which he loved! So...one day after everything else is done (which may take years!!) we may just get around to that master bathroom. Can you imagine laying back in that tub with a glass of wine watching the stars....life doesn't get much better than that.

Here's a few other bathrooms that may inspire you.

Country Living

Remember the movie The Holiday?

Love that wooden door to separate the loo a bit

I love pedestal sinks

This one is similar to the first picture. I LOVE the large windows and the vanity is beautiful

Love that sink but I think I'd put a skirt around it in between the legs.
Don't want to cover those beauties up!

Love the ceiling in this bathroom. Like my sisters bathroom in England they only have a
single glass panel at the head of the tub for the shower enclosure...it works!
This is actually a cottage that you can rent for holidays.

I love the window and tub enclosure.

I hope you had fun looking at these bathrooms and even if you don't do any renovations
maybe you'll get a few ideas for your own 'retreat'.
Have a wonderful day!
