A Cottage Rose

 The old rose bush
outside the dining room window
(at the back of the cottage)
is in full bloom.

I wish I knew it's name
and what kind of a rose it is.

I think it was planted
around the time the house was built
in the late 1940's.

It is a HUGE old bush
that blooms once a year.

What it lacks in longevity...
it makes up for with profusion!

It doesn't seem to have much
of a scent and the
colors range from red...a very
dark pink
to a light fuchsia.

All this color on one rose bush!

When we moved to the farm
it was very overgrown
and there was a lot of old dead
branches.

I gave it a good pruning
late that winter
and it must have been what it needed
as it has grown very well
with very little attention since then.

If only everything else
on the farm would grow so well!

Have a wonderful week!

Anticipation

Look at that face.

Hope knows that 'Dad' is bringing
something good to eat.

Right on schedule.

She nickers at seeing the bucket.

I wonder if she'll be this excited when
we start working her in the round pen
that we built last weekend.

I spent Monday afternoon staining it.
I bet the horses don't care.

We used an old hedge post we found
on the farm. I've got an old cast iron
bracket that we'll put up high
and I'll hang an old lantern from it.

Just for the heck of it.

A Room With A View

The view from our dining room window
is pretty at this time of year.

There is an old rose bush
that blooms once a year
right outside this window.

We can also see one of the old buildings
and some of the fruit trees
which are pretty when they are in bloom

I think our dining room
is my favorite room in the house.

The view looking in from
the kitchen.

You can just see the wood stove
to the left.

From the living room.

Into the kitchen.

From the living room again.
Oh goodness...the living room walls
are NOT this yellow...it's the
light this time of day!

Some of our collections.
I love Blue Willow and White Ironstone

Here is another view from the window.

I hate to see the blossoms end
but it's still a pretty
view.

What is your best view?
