A Taste Of What's To Come

We had a good weekend...not much
went on but the snow/rain
that was predicted
earlier
in the week
never materialized.

In one way I think that's great
but we really could
use a good heavy snowfall
or rainfall to get us out of the drought.

This time of year most of us need
a good
'pick me up'
or maybe a
reminder of what's to come.

So...I thought I'd post a few photo's
of flowers that I took here on the farm
over the past 2 years.

I hope they brighten your day!

Old roses that were here on the farm
when we moved here.

What you drive up when you come to the farm house.

Well here are a few of my old photo's
that I hope you enjoyed looking at.

I hope they made you smile and
maybe think about what's to come
in a few months.

I hope your day is a sunny one
:)

  1. Those lilacs are breathtaking! We´re covered in snow right now so times like the ones depicted in your photos are a long time away but sure looks lovely and something to definitely look forward too!
    Have a great evening- Amy@Eventyrhus

  3. It's raining outside but it's sunny on my laptop screen! Your photos are fantastic. I love that there really is a lane of lilacs (and old roses) and that Lilac Lane isn't just a romantic notion! Would you be interested in linking to my Sunlit Sunday meme (no pressure)? This is its third week. I love your post, Maura.

  6. Oh Maura, I could smell those lilacs from here. I love them so much. We will have some at the entrance to our property soon. There are some that are over a hundred years old right at the gate. I remember them from when I was little. Loved this post. I sure need flowers because today it is wet, damp, cold & no sun. ech!

  9. We're due to have temperatures of 34 degree's celcius here today... your plants and flowers made me smile anyway. They are fantastic photo's.
You can almost smell the aroma.

I love your lilac lane. I have a lilac bush here, but I noticed last year it only produced two flower heads. Not sure why?

Thanks for sharing and have a great week Maura :D

  10. Thank you for the pick up. I needed that. Sadly if we don't get some rain, I am afraid we won't have a pretty Spring. We did get some rain here last night but not enough to do much.

The weather has been so nice. I don't ever remember such a mild Winter. We will pay one way or another for it!

  11. Oh the joy of lilacs in Kansas - they just seem to love that climate. It was one of my favorite spring scents when we lived in Kansas. Your photos were like walking in spring - thanks so much!

  13. I think we are getting anxious with this mild Kansas weather. I know your flowers put a smile on my face. Love how you plant in vintage containers.

  14. That green grass and those blooming flowers are beautiful, Maura, and I am so ready to see some here! We had a really pretty day here today, with sunshine and temps in the high 60's. I painted outside most all day, but they are predicting more bad weather for later in the week. Stay warm in your neck of the woods!

  15. Love the lilacs, I can almost smell them from here. Thanks for brightening my day. We had four inches of new snowfall here in northern Wisconsin, when one was predicted. Weather-men uggggggg

  16. Even though our weather has been so much milder than normal, seeing your beautiful flowers does give us so much to look forward to come spring.
Your lilacs are so absolutely beautiful! I love lilacs and have a small plant growing on the south side of my house but it is oh so slow!!! I am envious. :)

  26. How do you keep the lilacs so healthy? I just planted some last spring and they developed powdery mildew by the fall. What can I do to keep them from dying this spring??? I have heard that powdery mildew is terminal.
