We had a good weekend...not much
went on but the snow/rain
that was predicted
earlier
in the week
never materialized.
In one way I think that's great
but we really could
use a good heavy snowfall
or rainfall to get us out of the drought.
This time of year most of us need
a good
'pick me up'
or maybe a
reminder of what's to come.
So...I thought I'd post a few photo's
of flowers that I took here on the farm
over the past 2 years.
I hope they brighten your day!

It's raining outside but it's sunny on my laptop screen! Your photos are fantastic. I love that there really is a lane of lilacs (and old roses) and that Lilac Lane isn't just a romantic notion! ReplyDeleteOh Maura, I could smell those lilacs from here. I love them so much. We will have some at the entrance to our property soon. There are some that are over a hundred years old right at the gate. I remember them from when I was little. Loved this post. I sure need flowers because today it is wet, damp, cold & no sun. ech!

I love your lilac lane. I have a lilac bush here, but I noticed last year it only produced two flower heads. Not sure why?

Thank you for the pick up. I needed that. Sadly if we don't get some rain, I am afraid we won't have a pretty Spring. We did get some rain here last night but not enough to do much.

Oh the joy of lilacs in Kansas - they just seem to love that climate. It was one of my favorite spring scents when we lived in Kansas. Your photos were like walking in spring - thanks so much!

ReplyDeleteThat green grass and those blooming flowers are beautiful, Maura, and I am so ready to see some here! We had a really pretty day here today, with sunshine and temps in the high 60's. I painted outside most all day, but they are predicting more bad weather for later in the week. Stay warm in your neck of the woods!

ReplyDeleteHow do you keep the lilacs so healthy? I just planted some last spring and they developed powdery mildew by the fall. What can I do to keep them from dying this spring??? I have heard that powdery mildew is terminal.
