Pumpkin Pie - Me Oh My!

Country Living

Mmmm....can you SMELL this?

Can you almost TASTE it?

Last spring I planted 4 hills of regular pumpkins anticipating the wonderful aroma of pumpkin pie
baking in my oven
this fall.

Unfortunately the bugs took over before I realized what
was happening and the plants died.
Even my mini orange and white pumpkin plants died.

Then one day in late summer I noticed that about
5 mini pumpkin plants were starting to grow on
their own where we had tilled
the ground.

I am so happy!
If all goes well...by the time we get our first frost
these little sweeties should be ready to start
decorating for Thanksgiving.
Oh ya.

But as far as baking pumpkin pie and
freezing some pumpkin puree goes
I'll have to resort to the pumpkin patch.
That's ok though as it's always a good
place for a photo shoot.

So while I wait to buy my pumpkins
I thought these photo's might get
me in the mood for baking.

Oh My.

  4. Hi Miss Maura,

Yep, pumpkin pie is a big hit in this family, except (of course), Mom who doesn't like sweet things,(except us) there is always ONE "pill" in the family.

We froze, well WE didn't, but we helped M puree and bag n freeze pumpkin and now we are all set for Thanksgiving & Christmas.

Those baby pumpkins in your pumpkin patch look nice and healthy. Place take "progress" pictures so we can see them grow. Please?

If you need dessert "tasters" we work for free, giggle. Yummy.

    Heaps of Hugs,
    Prudence & Sissy

  17. Your post today makes me hungry and I just finished supper not very long ago. We are having such beautiful weather in our area. We had the same kind of weather when we were married 47 years ago this next Tuesday. I would take this kind of weather all year round if I could get it, but probably no such luck. I have been doing blog reading tonight instead of embroidering. I needed a change of scenery for a little while. I enjoyed reading your previous post. Have a great day. Your Missouri Friend.

  19. Good Morning Maura! I love all things PUMPKIN! I am addicted to pumpkin bars with a teeny bit of cream cheese frosting and pumpkin bread with burnt butter frosting! Now if I could just find a way for the calories to not find my tummy and hips I would do a Snoopy Happy Dance. Your little pumpkins that surprised you are darling :) Enjoy your day Maura! I'm gonna go get some pumpkin!

  24. I'd skip the pie and go straight for one of those cheesecakes, yum!

My pumpkin patch has been very unpredictable this year. Our June was horrible and my patch didn't get off to a good start. Fortunately we haven't had a frost yet and the pumpkins are still growing.
