UPDATE!

UPDATE

~~~~~~~~
It was a week ago today that we took
our computer in to get fixed.
Today we stopped by the computer
shop to see how things are going.
The 'motherboard' arrived at his store
today and so our computer
will be staying with him until some
time next week.
I shudder to think what it will cost us
but we do what we have to do.
In the meantime I'm learning to
use this lap top.
I'm finding this contraption a lot
different than our desktop computer
but it's better than nothing.
Now if I can figure out how to get my
photo's on here and do some editing
I'll be happy!
I hope you are all enjoying some beautiful
spring weather.
We here in our part of Kansas
are under cloudy skies
and cooler temperatures.
When the sun comes out I will be out
'haying' the yard
and pulling weeds!
Maybe it's just as well I can't play
with photo's right now ;)
I hope you all have a wonderful
weekend with lots of
sunshine and warm temperatures.
I'll 'see' you soon...
...with photos!
~~~~~~~~~

Yes our computer is down for the count.
The nice young fellow who is
trying to fix it for us figures we had a lightning
strike at some point and didn't know it.

We need a new 'mother board' so we
won't be getting our computer
back for a week or so...
if it can be fixed that is.

I will be back as soon as I can.

~~~~~~~
OH...just thought you would like to know
that our lilacs are in full bloom
and no matter where you go on the
farm you can smell their fragrance
inside and outside.
I can close my eyes and picture my Nana :)
I have taken lots of photo's
and will share them with you
soon.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Fridays Fences
It rained pretty much all week
so I haven't been out taking photo's.
Our country road turns to slime when it rains
which means I don't go anywhere.
Unless Hubby drives.
These photo's are from last year
a few months after we put
the garden in
and put grass seed down.
The gardens and lawn wouldn't be
possible without the picket fence
as Shep our youngest and largest
dog would  destroy it all.
He has the rest of the farm
that he can rule!
We still have a gap over by the back
porch that is waiting for the building
of a large screened porch.
Wire fencing takes over from the pickets
and keeps a very sad Shep
off the porch.
It's the only way the 'wicker' furniture
would survive!
The Power Of The Internet
Please read comments below before you watch this video!
(You can turn my music off by scrolling down and hitting the pause button
on my music player)
I received an email yesterday
that contained the funny video above and
the story of how the video came about.
I don't normally put things like this
on my blog but I was so impressed
with this story
I just had to share it with you.
Customer Service
may never be the same
with large companies if these
3 video's keep getting 'hits'
on YouTube!
If you read the story below first
and then watch the video above
you will appreciate the video
even more.
~~~~~~~~~

A musician named Dave Carroll recently had difficulty with United Airlines. United apparently damaged his treasured Taylor guitar ($3500) during a flight. Dave spent over 9 months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor guitar. During his final exchange with the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no choice other than to create a music video for youtube exposing their lack of cooperation. The Manager responded: "Good luck with that one, pal."

So he posted a retaliatory video on youtube. The video has since received over 6 million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted settlement in exchange for pulling the video. Naturally his response was: "Good luck with that one, pal."

Taylor Guitars sent the musician 2 new custom guitars in appreciation for the product recognition from the video that has led to a sharp increase in orders.

Ok...you can watch the video now ;)
ENJOY!!!

But don't forget to come back
to see what happens next!
~~~~~~~~
The first video below is
Mr. Carroll
telling his story and explaining
what has happened since making
the first video.
It's a bit long but it's well worth
the watch.
It's one of those
'feel good'
stories where the little guy
WINS!
The last two videos
are the second and third
video's that
Mr Carroll
and his friends put together.
It's Springtime In The Garden
It seems Spring has decided to
come early this year.
For many of us.
I planted 100 daffodils
last fall
and I think I'll
plant another 100
this year.
All 3 of my Columbine are
looking good.
This little fern is peeking its
head out of the ground...
perhaps it's being cautious
since it knows it's a bit early
for it to be unfurling.
I love these daffodils with the
yellow centers.
They're like little sunny faces!
The lilacs buds are getting larger.
I just hope we don't get a late frost.
The tree's are leafing out and the
pastures are turning green.
I even mowed the lawn the other day.
We even got a load of compost
for the veggie garden boxes this weekend.
Now I just need to get the seeds
and start planting.
Don't you just LOVE this time of year!
Barn Charm Solid As A Rock
This is a beautiful old barn that we
pass every time we drive
to Kansas City.
This barn has 4 levels
and is made of native stone.
It's nice to see it is well taken care of
and appreciated.
The photo below give you a better idea
of just how large this barn is.
A Wonderful Day!
Sunday was a wonderful day.
My favorite
Antique Mall
had a store wide sale!
And to make the day even more special
I got to meet one of my
favorite Bloggers
in person.
Mecky
She has a wonderful blog called
Her sweet home is filled with
wonderful treasures but she is most
famous for her wonderful
1930-1940's
kitchen items.
 If you like vintage kitchen items
you will drool over some of the
beautifully colorful
things she's collected.
And believe me....
this girl is a
COLLECTOR!
We decided to try and meet up
at the mall
and about 3/4 of the way
down the first isle
I hear this soft voice
asking if I was
Maura.
Well we girls started
talking.
Ya can you believe it!
We had such a wonderful time
chatting that I almost forgot
to take photo's!
I did manage to get a few
so I hope you enjoy a little tour
of OUR favorite place to shop.
Mecky
THANK YOU
for the wonderful visit
and I look forward to visiting
with you again!
Picket Fences And Big Feet
I love fences.
Not so much when it comes time to mow
along them or when they need repairing
but here on our farm we need them.
We have wire fences to protect our
chickens from wild
critters and two of our three dogs
plus horses to keep from
eating our neighbors crops.
The picket fence however is to give the little dogs
Chelsea and Bubba and the cats
 a break from ...
THIS...
Well OK...sometimes it's not all Shep.
These photo's were taken around 2 years
ago...Shep has grown even larger
since then.
Chelsea has not.
These two race around like this every day.
Sometimes several times a day.
Oh the damage those big feet can do
when they are running or digging!
Shep can be a real PEST.
Another reason to have the picket fence
which is only close to the cottage
is to protect our new gardens.
The shade garden above...
and the sunny garden below.
Henry below can play outside the picket
fence but when he was smaller
as in the photo below...
he didn't venture far from it's protection.
Can you blame him!
Below shows the pasture fence on the left
and on the right you can see where we
quit with the picket fence.
A welded wire fence continues along the
lilacs but one day we'll extend the
picket fence part way down our
'lilac lane'.
In the meantime we enjoy our space
that's free from the pesky giant dog
and his big feet!
Barn Charm
I love this old barn.
This farm has two huge old barns
but this one is my favorite.
See the two cupolas?
This barn has CHARM.
Tip Toe Through The Tulips
Well maybe not 'tip toe' through
them
but we can at least
enjoy them
;)
Thursday was our big grocery day
and I couldn't resist bringing
 home a pretty bouquet
of lovely spring tulips.
I was able to choose from pink tulips
and red and yellow and mauve etc
but these ones caught my eye.
I would LOVE to plant some
tulips here on the farm
but I'm afraid we have way
too many squirrels
running around
and they
LOVE
tulip bulbs.
So this past fall I planted daffodils instead.
Hopefully they will start to show
signs of life soon.
Until then...
I may just have to treat myself
again ;)
Poor hubby's back went out last
Tuesday and he has been up and down
since then.
I'm sure we'll be making a trip into
the city to see his doctor tomorrow
but he says he's going to work tonight.
We'll see what happens when he get's up.
His big brother came over today
and used the tractor to continue
cleaning out our hedgerow
I'm sure it's been many MANY
years since anyone has been able
to walk under those trees!
Mostly he is just cutting off dead limbs
and taking down dead trees that were
burned when the barn caught fire.
We had hoped that some of them would
recover and they did...at least partially.
It's always sad when you have to take
a tree down but sometimes you
have no choice.
Anyway...it's been a good weekend
and a sunny one.
I hope yours has been a good one too.
